Back in 2017, I left financial services to start a content production agency. At first, I called it Bamford Media. That’s still my government name; the name of my limited company and the name on my bank account.
A couple of years later, we rebranded to Bear Content. There were a few of us working together, creating podcasts, videos, blogs, the whole lot. It made sense at the time.
Then 2023 happened. I went fully freelance and focused all my energy on photography. Portraits, events, branding work. No podcasts. No video. No team. Just me, a camera, and whatever light the Surrey Hills decides to throw my way.
So it started to feel a bit weird calling myself Bear Content. Yes, photography is a form of content. But let’s be honest. If you’re hiring a photographer, you probably want someone who sounds like… well, a photographer.
So I’ve made the decision. I’m retiring Bear Content. I’m killing the bear.
From today, I’m trading as Martin Bamford Photography.
It feels like a better fit. It is a better fit. I believe names should do what they say on the tin. Plus, after seven-ish years, it’s a chance to give everything a refresh.
Hot pink is out. Deep Forest Green and Muted Sand are in. Much more me. Much more Surrey Hills.
You’ll still see the Bear Content name for a little while longer while I update the website, email address and everything else that’s been quietly branded for years. I’ll probably forget something obvious. Like business cards. Must get those done.
So here we are. New name. Same camera. Still chasing light and human connection through my lens.
Portraits. Events. Brand photography.
Martin Bamford Photography. Let’s go.
