If you need a professional headshot in Cranleigh, you have more options than you might think.
You don’t need to travel into Guildford, London, or sit awkwardly in a corporate photo booth at a networking event. You can get strong, professional, useful headshots right here in Cranleigh.
The important thing isn’t just where you have them taken. It’s how they are taken.
A good headshot should make you look credible, approachable and confident. Not stiff. Not over-polished. Not like you have been forced to stand in front of a camera against your will.
And that’s where the right photographer makes all the difference.
Studio headshots in Cranleigh
My studio is on Cranleigh High Street, making it a simple option if you want clean, consistent, professional images without having to travel far.
The studio is especially useful if you need a headshot for LinkedIn, your website, a speaker profile, press use, business materials or a company profile page.
In the studio, I can control the light, background and overall feel of the image. That matters more than most people realise.
Controlled lighting means I’m not relying on the weather, the time of day, or whether the sun decides to disappear behind a cloud at the wrong moment. It gives the photo structure, clarity and consistency.
It also means we can create a few different looks in one session. You might want something clean and simple for LinkedIn, something with a bit more character for your website, and something slightly more relaxed for social media or PR.
That range is useful.
Your headshot shouldn’t be one image you use everywhere because it is the only decent photo you have. Ideally, it should be part of a small set of images that give you options.
Headshots at your office, home or on location
The studio isn’t the only option.
I can also come to your office, workspace or home if that suits you better. This can work well for business owners, consultants, creatives, therapists, coaches, teams, or anyone who wants their photos to feel more connected to what they do.
For teams, an office visit can be the easiest and most efficient option. Everyone is already there, the style can be kept consistent, and the images can be used across your website, proposals, email signatures and marketing.
Outdoor headshots can also work really well, especially if you want something more relaxed and natural.
Cranleigh is surrounded by excellent locations for portraits. Knowle Park Country Park works well for a softer, more natural feel, with paths, open space, water and woodland close to the village centre. Winterfold is another favourite, especially for portraits with more depth, texture and atmosphere.
The location should support the message you want the photo to send.
A solicitor, architect, yoga teacher, designer, financial adviser, actor and charity leader probably don’t all need the same type of headshot. The setting, lighting and style should reflect who you are and how you want to be seen.
What to expect during a headshot session
Most people arrive saying some version of the same thing.
“I hate having my photo taken.”
Or:
“I’m not photogenic.”
That is completely normal.
You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need to perform. You don’t need to arrive feeling confident.
That’s my job.
A good headshot session isn’t about leaving you alone in front of the camera and hoping for the best. I will guide you through the whole process, including posture, expression, where to look, what to do with your hands and how small changes can make a big difference.
We will try different angles, lighting, backgrounds and expressions. You can bring a change of outfit if you want more variety. We can keep things formal, relaxed, creative, direct, warm, serious, or somewhere in between.
The aim isn’t to make you look like someone else.
The aim is to create photos that feel like you on a really good day.
I specialise in helping people feel at ease in front of the camera. That comes partly from years of photographing people, but also from my previous career as a Chartered Financial Planner.
In that role, I spent years having personal, sometimes uncomfortable conversations with people about money, health, family, retirement, loss and life decisions. You learn how to put people at ease. You learn how to read the room. You learn when to talk, when to listen, and when someone needs a bit of reassurance.
That experience now helps me behind the camera.
A headshot session should feel directed, but not pressured. Professional, but not stiff. Focused, but still enjoyable.
How the selection process works
After the session, you receive a proof gallery so you can choose your favourite images for editing.
This is an important part of the process. Most people are not used to looking at professional photos of themselves, so I can help guide the selection if needed.
Often, people focus on tiny details no one else would notice. A shirt crease. A chin angle. A strand of hair. One expression they are not sure about.
I will help you look at the images in terms of what they communicate.
Do you look credible?
Do you look approachable?
Do you look confident?
Does the photo suit where it will be used?
That’s far more useful than simply choosing the image where you think your face looks “least bad”. Your headshot has a job to do. It needs to help people trust you faster.
Current headshot pricing
My current portrait and headshot session is £225 and includes up to 90 minutes in the studio, on location, or at your workplace, with 12 edited high-resolution images included.
That gives you enough time to settle in, try different options, and come away with a useful set of images rather than just one headshot.
Practical details
My studio is on Cranleigh High Street, with plenty of parking nearby. Village Way car park is usually convenient, although it can get busy on market day, so it is worth allowing a little extra time if you are driving in then.
If we’re shooting outdoors, I can suggest suitable locations depending on the style you want. Cranleigh and the surrounding Surrey Hills offer a lot of choice, from clean village settings to woodland, open fields and more natural backdrops.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want before booking. We can talk through what the photos are for and choose the best setting from there.
A professional headshot isn’t just a nicer photo.
It’s often the first impression people get of you.
So it’s worth doing properly.
