Box Hill
On Sunday morning, we decided to go for a family walk (plus dogs!) to Box Hill.
Parking on the road at the bottom of the hill, we climbed the incredibly steep Burford Spur, looking at the views across Dorking, Westhumble and Denbies Wine Estate.
Reaching the top, the queues for the cafe were massive, so we decided to push on for the view from Salomon’s Memorial, where I took the opportunity to take some street photos. Are they still street photos if there is no street?
Following the 275 steps back down the side of Box Hill, and managing not to slip over (!), we reached the Stepping Stones over the River Mole.
While paddling in the river, we met a lovely French Bulldog – not a breed known for their love of water!
Despite the recent heatwave passing, it was still warm enough to spend an hour playing in the water.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend a visit to Box Hill. Make sure you pack water and snacks, in case the cafe at the top is busy or closed. And make sure your legs are well-rested; for the climb to the top and the descent to the bottom!
